Brand Information

Clif Bar was named after my father, Clifford, my childhood hero and companion throughout the Sierra Nevada mountain range. In 1990, I lived in a garage with my dog, climbing gear, bikes, and two trumpets. One day, during a 175-mile bike ride with my buddy Jay, I couldn't stomach another bite of the energy bars we'd brought. I knew I could do better. Six months later, after countless hours in my mom's kitchen, Clif Bar became a reality. The spirit of adventure that inspired the birth of Clif Bar lives on to this day.
